About Hyrum Joe

Artist, Hyrum Joe, who documents the daily life of the Navajo people. His work depicts everyday scenes to convey the dignity and humanity of his community, blending impressionism with realism and drawing inspiration from classical European figurative drawing and painting.

While his previous work examined historical events to explore shifting Native American identity, his new body of work focuses on the period from 1950 to the present day. This collection explores modern trading post culture and the evolving relationship and cross-cultural collaboration between the Navajo and white trading partners.
