Rick Kennington
-
Rick Kennington was born and raised in Utah, spending much of his youth outdoors and on his grandfather’s ranch in Wyoming. Surrounded by wide-open landscapes and the rhythms of ranch life, Rick developed a deep love for horses and the Western way of life—both of which remain central themes in his artwork.
Rick’s paintings are inspired by the land he knows and loves, as well as his deep ranching roots. His style ranges from loose, impressionistic brushwork rich in color, to pieces that showcase fine detail and realism. This variety allows him to capture both the emotional atmosphere and the subtle truths of the Western experience.
His journey as an artist began with an art scholarship, which led him to study Fine Art at the University of Utah. It was there he gained a broader appreciation for all forms of art. Over the years, Rick has also drawn inspiration from established Western artists, attending numerous workshops to refine his skills and techniques.
Through dedicated practice and countless hours at the easel, Rick continues to experiment and grow as an oil painter.
Rick’s goal is to create artwork that resonates with people—stirring memories, emotions, and a sense of connection to place and heritage.
He currently lives in Utah with his wife and their four sons.
