Wayne Delyea


  • Wayne Delyea grew up in rural Northern Arizona and developed a love of Nature, Art and Woodworking at an early age. He sold his first oil painting at the County Fair at the young age of 14 and that same year he took his first formal training in a Woodworking Shop class at the High School. His academic training was in Business Management at Mesa Community College and The University of Phoenix.

    Wayne currently is a full-time bespoke furniture maker and owns and operates “Wayne Delyea Furniture Maker” making and designing handmade furniture near Granbury Texas. He specializes in Cabinets, Desks, Tables, Chairs and Rocking Chairs often featuring a Marquetry or Inlay embellishment.

    His passion for woodworking and art drove him to what he felt was the perfect combination of furniture with marquetry. He studied over the years with Texas Master Woodworker Frank Strazza to hone is hand tool, inlay, and joinery skills. He also studied Marquetry with the Master Marquetry Furniture maker Paul Schurch in 2 separate intensive and advanced Marquetry and Veneer courses. Wayne is a member and on the Board of Directors of the American Marquetry Society who has featured his work in several of their publications and a member of the Kansas City Woodworkers Guild.

    Wayne has won numerous awards in his career including Master Woodworking Artist of the year 3 time (more than any other artist). At the Texas Furniture Makers Show he has won the People’s Choice award 5 times also more than any Artist as well as numerous Fine Craftsmanship and Design Awards.

    At the 2021 Western Design Conference he won Best of Show and Exhibitors Choice and again in 2023 he won Exhibitors Choice for a second time. Wayne’s work has been featured in many magazines including Western Art & Architecture, Cowboys & Indians, BM Magazine, Mountain Living, Woodworker West, and Fine Woodworking.
